What is Sorted?

Calendar

Sorted is a monthly event that’s for you if you're at High School; so years 7 to 13.

It's for you if you’re trying to live your life in a relationship with God and you want to know more about what it is you believe in, you want some help and support, or you want to get involved in explaining what it is you believe about Jesus and the difference it makes to how you see the world.

It's for you if you've not made up your mind about who God is, whether he even exists and you're not sure about this guy Jesus and the stories you can read about in the Bible. At Sorted you can ask your questions, you can hear the Bible explained and you can hear from other young people about what it's like to live your life in a relationship with God.

Come along and you can do all this and we'll throw in some fun and games, live music, DJ's and probably some sweets and fizzy drinks.

Doors open - 7pm, Main event - 7.30pm to 9pm, Entry is FREE (although gifts are welcome), Doors close - 9.30pm

The Credibility of the Gospels

The Gospels are accounts recorded about the life of Jesus by eyewitnesses, or gathered from eyewitness sources, who observed Jesus life, ministry and teaching. They are made up of four books from four different authors, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Each writer had a different angle on the life of Jesus. Matthew was an eyewitness to the accounts he recorded during Jesus' life, as he was a disciple called by Jesus (Mt 9:9). Mark was an attendant to Peter, one of Jesus' most intimate disciples, so Mark's recordings of the accounts of Jesus in his Gospel come from the mouth of Peter. Although Mark would have seen Jesus, he was not a disciple and so relied on Peter's accounts. Luke's Gospel is a series of accounts from a number of eyewitness source's including the disciples, Jesus' family and followers and even Roman citizen's present at the time. Luke gathered all the information he could and formulated his writings in depth, so Luke's Gospel has in depth information on the birth and death of Jesus as well as his major teachings. The last Gospel is John's account. John was another intimate disciple with Jesus and went everywhere with him. He was present at the trial of Jesus, as he was friends with the Jewish authorities, he also lived the longest and so reflected on events after the other disciples had been martyred.

The strength of the insights into Jesus' life recorded in the Gospels', due to the series of eyewitness accounts and also the examination of events from outside the disciple's inner circle by Luke, mean that the credibility of the writings can be relied upon conclusively and that the evidence and accounts of all the Gospels can be believed and trusted as being true.

The reason they are written is so that we may have faith and know that God sent Jesus to reveal himself to us, and that through believing in Jesus may have eternal life and a relationship with God.

Stay ahead of the game!
